The Urban Forest Master Plan involves the protection, planting, and management trees to create a diverse, resilient, and beautiful urban forest on public and private lands.

Qualicum Beach’s urban forest includes every tree in our town – on streets, in parks, public spaces and back yards. Our urban forest plays important environmental and social roles: it cleans the air, absorbs rainwater, provides bird habitat and improves our health and well-being.

The plan provides a vision to guide the document, drawn in part from the Town’s OCP Sustainability Plan. It proposes three goals that embody this vision of urban forests in the town:

  1. Conserve natural values and systems.
  2. Accommodate other private and public values.
  3. Manage risk in treed landscapes.
The Town of Qualicum Beach respectfully acknowledges that it is located on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, home to the Qualicum First Nation.
